Men's Box Tournament

"The goal of the MBLL and Motor City Rumble is to continue to provide lacrosse players of all ages in the Midwest the opportunity to play box lacrosse authentically and grow their knowledge of the game and its historical roots."

Since 2020, Motor City Rumble Men's Box Lacrosse Tournament has been taking place just outside of historic Detroit, Michigan. This event, which was featured in LaxAllstars in 2021, aims to be a staple of box lacrosse in the Midwest and continue the growth of the "Creator's Game" in Michigan. Teams and players from all over North America have joined in elite competition to battle it out amongst some of the best Senior Men's Box teams and players in the game.

“IN MICHIGAN, MANY PLAYERS PLAY THE GAME OF LACROSSE BUT DO NOT HAVE A DEEP KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME’S ROOTS. MANY HAVE NEVER MET A PERSON OF INDIGENOUS HERITAGE OR SEEN A PROFESSIONAL PLAYER PLAY, OR EXPERIENCED A HIGH LEVEL OF THE GAME. THIS EVENT HAS CREATED A MELTING POT OF CULTURES AND ALLOWED YOUNGER PLAYERS IN MICHIGAN TO EXPERIENCE THE CULTURE OF THOSE WHO HAVE THE HISTORY OF LACROSSE IN THEIR BLOODLINE.”

GAME / TOURNEY FORMAT

Teams are guaranteed 4 games throughout the Saturday to Sunday tournament. Tournament has round robin play, followed by a seed based playoff and championship. Rules are NLL modified , with no reaching into the crease to protect goalies. Games are (3) 12 minute periods with 3 minute breaks. There will be some time in between games for teams to warm up briefly.

AMENITIES

Our tournament will feature a turf floor with two-door benches, certified referees, and an on-site trainer. Music will be playing all day, along with free Gatorade product for all our athletes, on-site food / drink vendors and community-based charity organizations. Our goal is to provide an amazing experience that appreciates the game, the teams, and the athletes.

TEAM INFO

Cost per team is $1500 and we do offer some early bird discounts for teams who want to register early. Participating players have come from all over the country and have experience all the way from college to the professional level. Competition is always elite, as teams have come from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan. Canada, and the Polish Heritage Team. We hope to continue to grow and bring in more and diverse competition from all over.
